Most laser cutting machines are controlled and operated by numerical control programs or made into cutting robots. Laser cutting, as a precision machining method, can cut almost all materials, including two-dimensional or three-dimensional cutting of thin metal plates.
In the field of automobile manufacturing, cutting techniques for spatial curves such as car roof windows have been widely used. Volkswagen AG uses a laser with a power of 500W to cut complex shaped car body sheets and various curved parts. In the aerospace field, laser cutting technology is mainly used for cutting special aviation materials such as titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, nickel alloys, chromium alloys, stainless steel, beryllium oxide, composite materials, plastics, ceramics, and quartz. Aerospace components processed by laser cutting include engine flame tubes, titanium alloy thin-walled casings, aircraft frames, titanium alloy skins, wing trusses, tail wing panels, helicopter main rotors, and ceramic insulation tiles for space shuttles.
Laser cutting forming technology also has a wide range of applications in the field of non-metallic materials. Not only can it cut materials with high hardness and brittleness, such as silicon nitride, ceramics, quartz, etc; It can also cut and process flexible materials such as fabrics, paper, plastic sheets, rubber, etc. If laser cutting is used for clothing cutting, it can save 10% to 12% of fabric and improve efficiency by more than three times.
